Job Description
Performing this task will require the technician to walk several miles per day, following a predetermined route.
Interested candidates should thrive in an ever changing, fast-paced environment while working as a team or independently to complete tasks. The objective of the job is to support our ongoing environmental efforts to help landfills reduce pollution and greenhouse gases by controlling the gas generated by the natural decomposition of garbage.
The position is field based and requires significant outdoor work, to be performed during typical Monday through Friday work week (7AM -5PM), with limited weekend needs. The successful applicant will join our team in Tullytown to work at a complex of three closed landfill sites, at which there is no exposure to trash. This is an apprenticeship style position where the primary responsibility is to scan the surface of the landfills with a gas analyzer to monitor for possible possible methane emissions and verify the integrity of the landfill gas containment systems.
Should a source of emissions be located, minor repairs to gas wells, wellheads, and various other field components and infrastructure will be required to maintain gas containment and compliance. The technician will need to gain knowledge on regulatory requirements and timelines to perform both the scan and necessary repairs to maintain compliance standards.
